'.:., .i 33 1'-nv f.a.' ll iffau Class Minutes In the fall of 1948, cheerful hi's echoed throughout the halls of M. H. S. as we began our freshman year. NVQ: joined new clubs, made new friends, and continued in the same traditions as previous classes had. VVe chose Tom Ray to lead us as president with the assistance of Sally john, vice-president, joan Tarr, secretary, Marlene DeCair, treasurer. Our first social affair was a novel movie dance, the Mardi Gras, which proved to be a big success. Our sophomore year was off to a good start under the sponsorship of Mr. and Mrs. Ward Apsey as we selected our new ofiicers. Robert Clason led us through the year as president. Our other officers were Ida Mae johnson, vice- president, YVilbur Tyson, secretary, Ralph jacobs, treasurer. This year we again proved our ability in the social circle by sponsoring the successful Gay Nineties dance. juniors! And as such we proved our leadership abilities in many ways. Ralph jacobs was our choice as president this year. His fellow officers consisted of lrvin Kulow, vice-president, Robert Christiansen, secretary, Sally johnson, treas- urer. The choosing and purchasing of our class rings were exciting for all. Our biggest task was the j-Hop. Oriental Ecstasy was the exotic theme and under the co-chairmanship of joan Tarr and Sue Mason, we made our dance one to be well remembered. Our senior year came and passed too swiftly. Lee Parkison was elected as president with Sue Mason as vice-president, Lois Petersen, secretary, and Bill Bradford. treasurer. We had more good times with our friends at the games, dances, parties, and in classes. This was the year of lasts, our last chorus and band concerts, our last plays, our last thrilling games, our last year as a friendly group. It was climaxed by our skip trip to Washington, D. C.. which we had been looking forward to for four long years. Now-all we have left are the Senior Prom and Commencement before we emerge full-Hedged graduates, each to go his separate way. These years have proved to be all too brief but they will always remain in our hearts as the warm, friendly years of youth. NVe talk it over l- . lf, 1 -. 'H . . But there's one person in this picture who is generally overlooked, and it isn't until the student starts to make his way in the world that he fully appreciates how much his teacher or instructors meant to him. School teachers are mighty important people. Teachers more than any other group have the greatest responsibility for build- ing strong characters and molding the ideals of good citizenship among today's boys and girls . . . our leaders tomorrow.
