Campbell, Margaret Harper, Larry Swift, Joed Woods, Mark Navelle Davis. My! What a change! This year thirty-eight boys and girls are taking instrumental lessons. Three years ago only eight pupils were taking lessons on an instrument. Our band is also improving in quality. Sour notes are fewer and fewer , and the music is getting better and better. Since so many of the members are in the lower grades, we believe that it won't be very long before our band will rate high, as it did in the early thirites. The Manilla band is an active organization. It has backed up the team and led us in our cheering by playing at all of the basketball games. Our annual Christmas program was made more beautiful by the playing of the band. Several band members proved their talents by making a fine showing at the District Solo and Ensemble Contest at Earlham College. The hard work and hours of practice that go into making our band are appreciated by us all. To you, who are members, and to that hard working instructor and director, Mae Campbell, a HEARTY THANKS. Z I7 The Rhythm Band consisting of first and second graders.
