German Students Create New Club FRONT ROW . . . Mrs. Peters, Mary Beth McCutcheon, Kathy Turnbull. SECOND ROW . . . Ronald Barber, Jeff Wolf, Roger Stoner, Norman Billipp. THIRD ROW . . . Richard Ashby, Terry Thompson, Robert Mil- ler. ABSENTEE . . . Margaret Nekut. Sprechen Sie Deutsch? is one ot the tirst questions a prospective member of the German club would be asked. Specifically the club's purposes are to learn more about the culture of Germany and to be able to converse in German with greater ease. Mrs. Peters, the sponsor of the new club, has been increasing their com- prehension by reading to them. Also the club reads Ger- man orally in order to receive pointers in the pronoun- ciation of the language. To increase their knowledge of Germany's culture, the club has been listening to tape recordings of a German announcer describing the cus- toms ot his country. Looking towards the future, the club is raising money in order to bring a German Foreign Exchange student to our school. For this reason the club held a bake sale at the Manheim Central wrestling match. Also a maior- ity ot the members have German pen pals, to whom they are writing letters in German. Already some ot the members have received interesting letters in re- turn. Officers L. to R .... Kathy Turnbull, Treas- urer, Margaret Nekut, Secretary, Jett Wolf, Vice-President, Norm Bil- lip, President, absent when picture was taken.
