It has undertaken many projects in the past four years, but probably the proiect deserving The most recognition is The sponsoring of a scholarship fund for a foreign exchange student. This is a four year Tuition paid scholarship and is currently being used by Mr. Tom Duba from Sierre Leone, Africa. He is studying aT Millersville State Teachers College. Also, every day after school, the council members set up a snack bar where students may buy ice-cream and candy. Early this year, The officers of the council attended the District Student Council Conference at McCaskey High School. The student council is an essential part of the Junior High School. The changes made were: each of its members served on one of ive standing committees, its meetings were held during the school day, and its members will be elected by the classes at large in the future. In addition to sponsoring its usual school attairs, the council took upon itself the handling of the Sir Valen- tine contest, the money from which was distributed Gardner, .loan Martin, Kathy Livingston, Vicki Goddard. The reporters ot the Hi-Lite are iuniors and seniors chosen in the second semester at their sophomore year. The editors are selected from these reporters when they are iuniors, and serve until the second semester ot their Senior year. There they inspected all the machines and saw the amount ot work involved in printing The Hi-Lite. This year The Hi-Lite was awarded a Hrst class rat- ing by the National School Press Association. lt also received a Keystone Award tor the Hrst time in its history, atter being judged superior by the Pennsyl- vania School Press Association. The Hi-Lite statt tor the coming i962-l963 year will include Nancy Wilcox, Editor, Jackie Logue, Co- Editor, June Zuck, Feature Editor, Marty Powl, Sports Editor, Ed Moen, Assistant Sports Editor, and Sue Schneider, Business Manager.
