reedom to be whoever we choose to be is perhaps the greatest gift we will have when we leave Manhattanville. Did you ever think of what it would be like to be told what and when to study, who to be friends with, or what kind of activities to participate in? For most of us, the idea is inconceivable. We often take for granted the most valuable gift we have: the gift of freedom. In the last four years we have learned what freedom truly means. The opportunities Manhattanville has provided us with are endless: we could choose to study abroad in England for a semester, take a photography course even if biology was our major, or even run on the Quad during a snowstorm. These opportunities have provided us with an awareness of what we can do with our lives and our talents. The decision to be successful in a sport or a major area of study was left entirely to us. Through the years we learned that the road to excellence was not an easy one, but having the freedom to find that road made the search a little bit easier. Manhattanville provided an opportunity for us to use our freedom in exploring clubs, student government positions, and even off- campus internships. When we remember Manhattanville years from now, let us not forget the freedom we had to laugh, to cry, to be ourselves. Elizabeth A. Contegni
