The infinite tact, the consideration for others and the conciliatory influence of the French heroine are at the service of everyone with whom Marie comes in contact. That she is as determined as she is obliging is shown by the miraculous length of her hair, which has survived the devastating whims of the moment, to be the admiration and envy of all beholders. We do not wonder that the saintly Bernard found it hard to leave the world, if the real Marguerite had many of the qualities of her twentieth- century impersonator.
