H1 Y CABINET Lett to right Rees Hall Parker Marlow Parizo Mr Rogers Greene Thayer Shellenbaum Blough The one hundred fifty active members of H1 Y have e Joyed one of its most prosperous yeai Each member ha in his possession a small n embelship cald which fates that the purpose of the club IS To create ma1nta1n and extend throughout the school high stand ards of Ch11st1an character Each membel has strived to fulfill thee ideals by improv- ing not only the school but the community as well. One of the highlights of the year was the annual Youth Conference held Feb. 27-28. This vear the Hi-Y and G. R. were privileged to have Rev. Willifm Hage from Emporia as their speaker. During the two-day confer- ence he spoke to the membership of the Hi-Y and G. R., the student body and conducted pcrsonal conferences. In the fall a training conference was held i11 Clay Center for all cabinet members. Many different ideas of leadership were presented at this conference for th benefit of all pres- en . A sectional Hi-Y conference was held April 15 in Manhattan. Approximately 120 dele- gates attended the meeting from the central area of Kansas. They 11 ere divided into five discussion groups. The climax of the meeting' was a banquet held in the evening. D'. Slutz from Cleveland Ohio acted as leader of the conference. The Hi-Y and G. R. have combined on sev- eral occasions this year. During the Thanks- giving season each cooperated in gathering baskets of food fcr the needy families Other me Joint progiams mcluded the annual play, The Flghtm Littles exchange programs, and a Battle of the Sexes A Christmas tree provided by the H1 Y was again decorated by the H Y and G R cab 1nets after a potluck supper The annual H1 Y date hike Lo Sunset park was ca1r1ed out su cessfully. Perhaps two of the most memor- able events given in the fall and spring, were the Father-Son Potluck and Mother-Son Banquet which were enjoyed by parents and boys alike. During the football season the candy stand was again in charge of the Hi-Y. From the money taken in sizable contributions were made to the War Fund and Red Cross. The Hi-Y book exchange was again operated this year for the benefit of all. As in other years the Hi-Y had charge of the Easter Assembly. The leadership of the club was placed in the hands of president Guy Marlowg vice- president, Duane Blough' secretary Lorraine Reese treasurer Dick P'lI'kEl world brother- hood chairm ll John Greene' program chair- man Robert Thayer' p iblicity chairman Bob Parizo' social chairman Ralph Shellenoaum' devotional chairman, John Hall. Mr. Ralph Rogers the sponsor of Hi-Y deserves a vote of thanks. 'Thus the curtain is again closed on an- other successful year of Hi-Y The year is ended but the many memories of the good times had in Hi-Y linger on.
