M2-r iv.--.- Roesner ecretary treasurer Kaun vrce president To make the coming year 'r success the junior class elected their officers the pr eced rng spring Five very efficient people were chosen Brad Libby was elected president Charles Kaup was elected vrce president and served as president when Brad moved away the second semester Jean Roesner filled the junior class rn the Student Council were Rus sell Frey, and Drck Templeton with Mrrrlyn Martin and Shirley Barham as ex oifrcro member's. To start the football season out right the student body elected five cheerleaders one of vs hom was a junior Alice Becker. Her grace and agility as a dancer m-rde her '1 cheer- leader the class was proud of. The class of 47 vrerrt out in full force 't help the Manhattan Indians to victory and will be back next year along with the under- classmerr to make the 1946 football season a victorious one. Lyle Blanchard and Brad Libby were elected captains for next year. Other juniors supporting the team were Duane Blough Ed Pence Dean Van Valken- burgh Don Setter Dick Templeton Paul Moore Bud Becker Wally Beyer Bill Allen, Diek Parker, Gene Lovett and Fred Preeby. The curtain rose at eight o clock on October 12 and members of the junior class showed their dramatic ability in the C. R.-Hi-Y play The lfightirrg Iittles. Iuriors ir the pl'y cast included Janet Ray Ann Th-rckrey Carolyn Adams Russell Frey 'rr l M'rrjor'e Bock. The junior girl candidates for queen of the Pigskin Prom really felt worldly when they rode around the footlrrll field in new convertibles during the half of the Manlrat tan Srlrna Homecoming game which was the night before the Prom November 17 Queen candidates were Mary Esther Ruhr Agnes Husband Mary Lou Harwood, Shirley Bar ham and Alrce Becker Dean Van Vallxen burglr -Xlvrn Becker Duane Blough Ed for king Many felt the pl ry of the year was the one presented by the junior class on December 8 Under the capable hands of Mrss Elizabeth Iittle dramatic coach the juniors presented Lh-rrleys Aunt. With social etiquette reversed the femmes of MHS took their dates to the tr 1ditional Golddiggers Ball on February 9 sponsored by the junior' class. 'lhose who slaved and made the party 'r success were: publicity-Marcia Throckmorton Carolyn Adams and Edith Payne' refreshments-Bill Phillips Wilma Justus and Mr. Clark' music-Jean Roesner and Mrs, Brown. Miss Berger was the general supervisor 'ind Charley Kaup was the gen- eral chairman. To show their appreciation for the Sr.-Jr. the junior class g'rve a banquet May 4 and had '1 formal dance in the high school auditor- ium following the banquet. A large crowd of upperclfrssmen 'rttended in bow ties and formals. And 'rs the school yefrr drew to 'r close the junior cl'rss was glad they were the In-Be- tweerrs of MHS in 1945-46 because the year lrrd been more fun than they imagined. So the junior class worked hard to accom- plishing worthy goals in life. And if ever any general were to st-md in front of them he could say ll ell done class of '47.
