'FW 4' Um 0 clucafcon F V BERGMAN SUPERINTENDENT OF H H BISHOP SCHOOLS PRINCIPAL 'r c E p M A U E S IN PEACE so 1n war the gu1d1ng forces of our school the superlntendent pr1nc1 pal and faculty are lndlspensable In our aCt1V1t16S whether SOCIHI or currlcular they have not been behlnd the lines but rlght at the front To th1s corps of leaders who contrlbuted to the success of our school th1s past year we of MHS are grateful The f1ne work of these people who serve or have served 1n th1s capaclty can best be found 1n the th1ng they have accompllshed that 1S the educating of a student body that will be able to go out and face l1fe Wlth whatever It holds 1n store Th1s year of all years changes have had to be made In admlnxstration 1n currlc ulum 1n act1v1t1es and ln the lives of the students themselves there have been adjust ments to the high geared scheme of war Sciences and mathematics have been stressed as they are especlally needed 1n these tlmes In physical education a more strenuous program was planned for physlcal f1t ness and the manual arts and shop courses had to be revlsed Even though 1n each course the aspect of the war has been real1zed the fundamen tals and the arts have not been sllghted It IS essentlal that we not only w1n the war but that we Wln the peace also and 1n str1v1ng for that goal tra1n1ng other than that for war must and has been g1ven to every student Topplng the adm1n1strat1ve staff 1S our able superintendent, Mr F V Bergman, for mer hlgh school pr1nc1pal Due to the lllness of Dr W E Sheffer, Mr Bergman as sumed the t1tle of Acting Superlntendent, but he was later made superlntendent H H B1ShOp, havlng taken over the dut1es of pr1nc1pal has, along w1th the faculty, cooperated to the fullest extent for the betterment of our school Perhaps our competent school board performs one of the greatest services In the 1mprovement of our school, 1n busmess transactions and other accomplishments they have always been keenly lnterested The school board IS composed of Mr P J Newman, pres1dent, Mr Ray H Pollom, v1ce pres1dent, Mr Tom McClung, Dean R W Babcock, Mr G W G1v1n, Dr K F Bascom Miss Clara Sp1lman1s clerk of the board, and Mr R C Barr IS treasurer - - - They Command 9' 'ff ff 6 I Q 0 O E ' v B.S., K.S.
