HIY CABINI'.'l Mr Rug r Hofe Hanna Drown Brewer Lynch Iflannelly Clark Johnson Remmele S A CHRISTIAN organrzatron for boys the Hr Y agarn thrs year carrred out rts purpose to create marntarn and extend throughout the school and communrty hrgh standards of Chrrstran character The H1 Y and G R sponsored a guest speaker and advrser Dr Orlo Chogurll of Emporra Dr Chogurll spoke to a combrned meetrng of the two clubs to the student body rn assembly and to an open forum of rnterested students He also de voted two days to personal conferences wrth varrous students Thrs servrce rs an annual functron by whrch the entrre school benefrts In years past the Hr Y has felt rt worth whrle to Jorn wrth the Grrl Reserve Club rn extendrng Thanksgrvrng cheer to some of the needy famrlres Condrtrons were such rn the communrty thrs year that rt was not necessary for the H1 Y and G R to provrde Thanksgrvrng baskets for needy famrlres The Welfare Offrce attrrbuted thrs to the fact that acceleratron of busrness due to war condrtrons had brought Jobs to most of the famrlres Socral actrvrtres began wrth a watermelon feed at Sunset Park rn the early part of September The feed was followed by a frght between senrors and under classmen The senrors won amrdst flyrng rrnds A Father Son potluck supper was grven rn No vember wrth Dr Waldo Grrmes grvrng the address Food and transportatron ratronrng brought on the cessatron of the annual carolrng party and club re treat Money whrch would have been used rn frnancrng these actrvrtres was placed rn channels leadrng to the furtherrng of the war effort A book exchange open to all students at the begrnnrng and end of each semester was marntarn ed agarn thrs year The book exchange rs a med rum through whrch text books are bought and sold wrth a small per cent gorng to the Hr Y treasury In addrtron to the weekly club and cabrnet meet rngs the H1 Y was rn charge of the Thanksgrvrng assembly The Hr Y G R play thrs year was The Very Lrght Brrgade Thrs play rs presented by those belongrng to the Hr Y and G R clubs and rs the only school play open to sophomores The Hr Y Chrrstmas tree whrch was decorated 25 f f 0 0 9 . v .
