Excellence assumes an objective. It demands that we think beyond dreams and concepts; that we think of reality in terms of what can be, what ought to be. We recognize that we will not achieve excellence in everything, but we must pursue it continually. Christian leadership demands vision. The Christian leader must have both fore- sight and insight. When he does, he will be able to envision the end result of the policies or methods he advocates. Vision includes optimism and hope. No pessimist ever became a great leader The pessimist sees a difficulty in every opportunity; the optimist sees an opportu- nity in every difficulty. Vision imparts venturesomeness — the willingness to take fresh steps of faith when there is a seeming void beneath. (Ted Engstrom)

The 16th Annual Benefit Dinner was held on November 6, 4987 in order to raise money for updating the computers. MCC was hon- ored to present as the speaker for the evening President Jon Wefald of Kansas State Universi- ty. The meal was catered by the Cotton Club with special music provided by the Celebration Singers. Both the Singers the servers did an excellent job of re-, presenting Manhattan Christian College.
