AUSTIN, HENRY KOZLOWSKI, (Sitting): 20 INSPIRATION RINGERS Ringing English handbells in praise is a newly popular and growing form of musical worship in our churches across the land. MCC sees the need to prepare young people to lead in this music ministry. In 1974, Mrs. T. H. Johnson gave the first gift to begin our fund for a set of bells in mem- ory of her husband and long-time president of MCC. The bells were purchased in 1975, and a choir was quickly organized. Now, four years later, we have graduates directing other bell choirs. Interest in bell ringing continues to grow in the churches. We must also expand our college pro- gram to provide well-prepared leadership. The T. H. Johnson Memorial Bell Fund, therefore, has a new goal—a complete five-octave set of bells. 21 Cynthia Wynkoop, Becky Manzer, Pete Bradshaw, Leah Ann Cook, John Strifler, Karla Kunze, Tony Thornton, Vana Schipper, David Frymire, Becky Walker, Lori Huett, (Top Row, L to R): Renate Allen, Professor Kim Clowe. This year’s fall concert tour took them to four Southeast Kansas cities. Highlights of the fall semester included the fall mini- tour, the Dr. Charles C. Hirt ACCME workshop on “Choral Music in the Church,” an appearance at the Kansas Christian Convention, MCC Days, a Christmas television show, and the annual Christmas concert. Second semester highlights included the production of the pulpit musical drama In My Father’s Name, the re- cording of a new album, and appearance at Women’s Days, and the annual Spring Tour (through Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and Missouri). BRASS ENSEMBLE NEW CREATION Psalm 150 challenges the worshiper to praise the Lord with all musical instruments and singing. The MCC In- struments Ensemble, directed by Professor Richard Terry, exists to foster and encourage instrumental music in the Church as it relates to the ministry of music. Performances during the year included chapel services, two five-concert weekend tours with New Creation, and several music functions in area churches. It affords students an opportunity to maintain their playing abilities while permitting them to serve the Lord in an exciting ministry. Above, New Creation (directed by IXim Clowe). The purpose of the Psychology Council is to acquaint the student body with Christian counseling techniques so that life’s problems can be resolved in the light of the New Testament. In its initial year, interested students met under a facu- ty advisor at designated times throughout the semester to discuss such items as current seminar themes and their speakers, seminar follow-up groups, and proposals for effective psychology courses.
