All these words and many more could be used to describe the place our President holds in the hearts of all who know him. Throughout the year President Lown is kept busy ful- filling all his many duties. He somehow manages to take care of the many executive duties of a college president, while also holding revival meetings, and attending classes at Kansas State. Not oaly these scholastic duties are per- formed by the President but he also succeeds in being a devoted father and loving husband to his wife, Nadine, and his two children, Linda and Carol. Nadine also joins himas a teacher of Decorum and Womens' Work at the col- lege. fi DEAN LACKE Dean James Lackey, our spiritual, aca- demic leader, dedicates himself to the present growth of MBC. Dean Lackey also teaches Greek. 10 THE THE GRESHAMS LABOR TOGETHER IN| THE VINEYARD OF THE LORD 7 Ba a Corr Professor James Carr teaches Bible and Christian Doctrine, heads the worship committee and preaches at Crestview Christian Church. Mrs. Carr is an in- structor in Christian education. Professor Daniel T. Johnson teaches Hist- ory and Psychology, and also serves as business manager. Professor and Mrs. Johnson proudly announced the arrival of Mark Randall to their family this year. 13 Ben Duerfeldt Dean of Students, Professor and Choir Director. BEN DUERFELDI MBC uses the talents of Ben Duerfeldt in many different ways. Professor Duerfeldt, aside from his teaching duties, also has charge of the music department. Professor Duerfeldt is not only outstanding in both of these fields, but also fills his position as Dean of Students ina wonderful way. His shining personality and abounding un- derstanding are great assets to the Christian spirit of MBC. Pad “3 Wallace May Professor May teaches Oral Communica- tions and Radio P roduction at MBC. Out- side of his regular classes, however, he is the man behind the scenes in the radio programs produced from Manhattan Bible College. He also spends many hours a month editing the MBC News , each edition of which becomes more of a mas- terpiece than the one before. DR VanBuren Dr. Van Buren one of the top scholars in Literature and Bible of our day, strives to instill some of his knowledge in the lives of those who sit in his classroom. Dr. Van Buren Teaches Bible, Literature, and Sociology at Manhattan Bible College All who have been under him in their college career will readily agree that he has an un- common talent and ability to make the Bible come to life and live within the hearts of those who love its words. The Van Burens and son Lynn in their Manhattan home. 16 KENT BATES Manhattan Bible College was honored this year to have Mr. Kent Bates as part of our staff. Kent came the first semester for the purpose of delivering a series of lectures and this he did in a fine way. As second semester began we found him again in our midst. This time-as the pro- fessor of History of Christian Expansion . Kent Bates has beenamissionary to Jhansi, India for the last 12 years. H. Johnson Memorial Lecture- ship, the ninth annual lectureship of this type, at Manhattan Bible College was held February 5,6,7. The lectures were planned and sponsored by the Alumni Association of the College. Dr. Joseph Dampier, of Emmanual School of Religion, Milligan College, Tennessee, was the guest speaker. The theme of his lectures was The Restoration Movement Up To Date . MBC was host tomany guests dur- ing these three days, and we feel assured that the lectureships were indeed enjoyed by all who attended. Va _ S SS ESS ‘sp iS SX MEMORIAL Memorial Hall stands proudly at the side of the main building at MBC. This hall is the home of the girls attending MBC. AIl the girls find that this dormi- tory truly becomes their home away from home. The girls work together to make it homey and pleasant to live in. Chris Hamon becomes the mother of a very large family as she faithfully fulfills her role as girl's dorm mother. Every day is a growing experience as each girl learns to live with others. Devotions, either asa group in prayer cells, or individually complete every day. Simi shine HOUSE This is home for twenty-three men students of MBC . DEVOTIONS: these times of devotion give us spiritual uplifting . Mom looks after her boys time for other pursuits. Bill Eaton works diligently on an assignment. Pop Amiong, father of our librarian, Martha, inspired many a student with his cheerful spirit. Everyone was sorry when he passed away during this year, but each one is thankful for the years of spiritual guidance he has given. IOOF Each Friday evening students go out to the L|OOF Home and have worship services and personal fel- lowship with the people there. This notonly brings joy into the hearts of the residents of the Home, but also enriches the spiritual experiences of the student. The Chapel Service held each week on Wednesday night brings the students and faculty together in fellowship and worship. ae ollie == ea ogee mn ne s SME ea) SEK. ste oY a Sees x - oP a I fe ey aS a Music is a significant part of the life at MBC. The choir, under the direction of Ben Duerfeldt, provides inspirational music for the chapel services monthly and have also made several special ap- pearances. MABICO SINGERS An enthusiastic new group this year is the Mabico Singers. This group of selected singers made its first appearance at the Johnson Memorial Lectureship. ENSEMBLES Sharing in the musical life of MBC several ensem- bles carry the message of Christ to churches for many milesaround. Besides preaching the message of love through singing, they win new friends and enjoy fellowship of Christians . PRAYER ROOM The Prayer Room contributes a great deal to the spiritual growth of the student. Other devotions include daily prayer cir cles, evening twilight worship in the All Faith Chapel at KSU, and prayer cells which meet after Chapel each week. The Crusaders playeda rugged schedule which included many of the other Bible colleges in our area. Coached by Dr. Charles R. Gresham the Big Blue again suffered a losing season but showed steady improve- ment in eachgame. The first five, made up of 4 freshmen and 1 junior, are look- ing forward to a more successful season next year. In all games the team showed the highest quality of Christian sports- manship and are a credit to our school. Dinning Facil;Ties Mrs. T. H. Johnson was delightfully surprised the evening of November 21, when she received the honor of having the new MBC dining hall dedicated to her. This halt, which is located only a half-block from the main building of MBC, is to become the student dining hall. The building was purchased through the generous donations of various faculty members and friends of the College. All the students of MBC and all who have seen this work progress are anxious for the time when we can begin using this new dining hall. Jim Coffman practices to proclaim the Gospel by radio. RADIO ROOM This small radio room is the production place of Moments of Inspiration , a weekly radio pro- gram. This organization meets once amonthwith lessons aimed to help the women to be- come a better church worker. The theme was centered around being a More Ef- fective Church Woman . Some of the lessons were: Art of Being Well Dressed With a Basic Dress , “Art of Being A Graceful Churchwoman , Art of Being A Guest , and Churchwoman in Mis- sions . The officers are: President, Mrs. Margaret Ann Pullen; Vice - President , Miss Janice Turner; Secretary, Miss Joan Mendenhall; Treasurer, Mrs. Linda Carl- son. The sponsors are Mrs. W. F.
