THE MABICO This page sponsored by GLEN ELDER CHRISTIAN CHURCH Maunhattow, Kansas This page sponsored by LARAMIE STREET GROCERY and PRINCETON SUNDAY SCHOOL To Mrs. W.F. Lown, we dedicate this 1957 Mabico. Her warm, friend- ly manner has endeared her to all who know her. Though a busy housewife and mother, she takes an active part in school life and works part-time in the business office. At her desk or in her home, she is always ready to assist in any way, and is filled with a desire to serve Christ. Because of her humble spirit, she often does not receive the recognition she deserves, and we take this opportunity to recognize her service to the Lord and to M.B.C. She is, like Dorcas, a woman of good works serving her Lord in this place. Tuesday BOARD OF IRUSTEES é m Ns, Nd ons Stden, Cok, i: Bake 4 W, Ting Re cae Redd, gate Nery “a, 2Mpie, ENsby Rex These men have determining the poli from the business world as well as the ministry. the responsibility of making the decisions and cies of the college. They are Christian men His inspiring Christian character and consuming zeal to further the kingdom of Christ make President W.F. Lown a man who is admired, respected, and loved by all who know him. During the two short years of his administration, Manhatian Bible College has been strenghtened numerically and spiritually in his witness for Christ. In the classroom, the president's sincereity coupled with his warm sense of humor make him a well-liked and an effec- tive instructor. The caliber and down to earth nature of his teaching are highlighted by his ability to communicate zeal and to instill within tne hearts of his pupils a vision of Christ's Church victorious over all the world. President Lown's faith in the future of Manhattan Bible College through the grace and guidance of God is equalled only by his faith in Christian young people. He takes a personal interest in each student. Because of his warm person- ality and genuine interest, he is an accessible friend what- ever the occasion. With such a leader to guide us, how can we but forge ahead with determination in our preparation to answer the call to take to all the world Christ Jesus. This page sponsored by MAR CAFE, Aggieville CAMPUS CLEANERS, Aggieville A very inspiring and challenging person on the staff of Manhattan Bible College is our Dean, James Lackey. Although he is very busy with his office work and classes, he manages to find time to help those who need his guidance. As a man of such high ideals, he is a challenge to all who know him. Deaw Johusow Following in the steps of his father, Dan Johnson joined the staff of Manhattan Bible College this year as Dean of Students. A faithful follower of Jesus Christ, he is a fine Christian example to all with whom he comes in contact. Devoted to his work and to God, he spends much of his time helping the students. Christian workers are needed throughout the whole world, and in order to train students for this work, we must have good Christian leaders. Through him, may this school continue to grow, and may it be richly blessed by his leadership. This page sponsored by EFFINGHAM CHRISTIAN CHURCH HAVENSVILLE CHRISTIAN CHURCH MRS. Memorial Hall, the girls dorm, is located just west of the college. Here many lasting friendships are made. Each person becomes a part of one big family, and each learns to share responsibilities, as well as her problems with others. One of the most inspiring phases of dorm life is the evening devotions. By taking time out for a few minutes each night, we are drawn closer together as well as being drawn closer to God. Of course we have to have a little fun, too. Every now and then someone pulls a prank on someone else, and we learn to take them in a joking way. Through this fellowship together in both work and play, a person finds that dorm life in a Christian college is an experience which will not be forgotton This page sponsored by AGGIEVILLE HARDWARE ELECTRIC CO. It is a Christian home away from home with afostermother, Mrs. T.H. Johnson, widow of the former President of M.B.C., who loves and cares for her boys as if they were her own. Study sessions, pranks, the sharing of ideas, a touch of housekeeping, and nightly devotions draw the family closer together and closer to the Lord. Under the guidance of Mrs. Coloriss Lackey, sponsor, and Viola Benton, president, the organization has operated efficiently and effectively. Though teams are not usually ready to begin service until the second semester, this year, — because of the fine enthusiasm and co-operation of the members, teams were sent out at the beginning of the First semester. Each team is composed of a minister, a chalk artist, a special number, and a song director. Weekends find these teams serving churches in Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska bringing Christ to the hearts of men and receiving a blessing in the service of the King. EPSILON TAU ALPHA The men's organization of M.B.C. has three very noble ideals as its watch- word. The three Greek letters by which they are known stand for hope, honor, and truth. It is in accordance with these ideals that they have undertaken the tremendous task of planning and carrying out the M.B.C. Day program annually. Under the able leadership of their president, Neil Bock, and the M.B.C. Day chairman, Rodney Hinkle, E.T.A. has endeavored to make this special day one which will encourage other youth to dedicate their lives to the principles of hope, honor, and truth. At the right are pictured the personnel which made M.B.C. Day a success in 1956. 29 Mabico Boosters PAUL DOOLEY JEWELRY PATRICKS CAFE Aggieville Aggieville COURSER FUNERAL HOME 1317 Poyntz Avenue Since the close of World War Il, M.8.C. has had a great number of dedicated ex-servicemen who have passed through her halls. This year they changed the location of the Prayer Room and enhanced its appearance by hanging some new velvet drapes. The new location of the Prayer Room is just off the Chapel platform. Preachers One of the most important phases of college life here at Manhattan Bible College is that of student preaching. Each week-end there are many students who go out to serve churches over the state of Kansas, as well as some in Nebraska and Missouri. Student preaching gives the students the experience while they are learning. It also provides churches with ministers which ordinarily would not have any. Some of the students have regular churches which they serve, while others have supply pastorates and fill in at different churches. There is a great need for students who are willing to serve the Lord by carry- ing the Gospel to others. Autographs A SPORT FOR EVERYONE Hard work, undaunted enthusiasm, and the untiring efforts of Coach George Lespagnard have combined to give M.B.C. a basketball ‘season of which to be proud. Though the record in the win and loss column is not impressive, the team has displayed the Christian spirit of fair play and good sports- manship. Especially commendable is the fine job done by Coach Lespagnard during his first year at M.B.C.
