Through the years there has been great Christian leadership gone out from this school because someone cared enough for Christ's church to see that these young people could receive the training they needed to be an effective servant. To these people who have silently taken up their cross in this way, we humbly dedicate this book. - % al © mg TS ek, College Calendar For 1955-1956 First Semester Sepember 5—Dormitories open September 6—Tischhauser Dining Hall opens September 6-7—Freshmen and New Student Orientation, 10:00 A.M. First of all, I want you to get acquainted with our wonderful faculty, and those making up the student body; then we'll look in on the various organizations and activities. j Perhaps one of the most important phases of this school is f it's wonderful spiritual life which cannot be captured in the pages of a book, but is known and felt in the hearts of those lives associated with the school. He has brought to us the peace that comes from lmowing nothing, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. He has shown us 2 spiritual fellowship that only Christians can know. Our president's Christlike influence has been felt before throughout the middle-west in varied and successful ministries. Now the spirit of Christ in him may be felt and gained by those future ministers of the gospel who sit at his feet. The students, faculty, staff, ard all who know Fresident Lown are sure that Manhattan Bible College will be led to engage in its purpose more fully. Thus it is with rejoicing and thankfulness to God that we welcome as Fresident of Manhattan Bible College one who has come ... -efor the perfocting of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. JAMES EDWARD LACKEY An enthusiastic greet- ing and a friendly smile, are two of the reasons that Dean Jim Lackey has endeared himself to the students of Manhattan Bible College in so short a time. With the busy schedule of his aca- demic office and the preparation for classes in Greek and history, he still finds time to give spiritual guidance to those who need it. All who know our dean are. im- pressed by his depth of character and com- plete dedication to the Lord's work at Manhattan Bible College. The constitution reads, ....to the end that we may render The council the greatest possible service to Jesus Christ.... provides for a free flow of ideas between the faculty and the students for improvement of relationships, for school promotion, for student control, and for the proclaiming of the gospel of Christ Jesus. It was organized as a study and social club and has served the rurpose through the years of bringing the single and married women together in a closely knit fellowship of Christian Service. Mrs. J. H. Johnson has been sponsor of the organization from the beginning. This year Mrs. Lown has been co-sponsor. Both Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Lown have been very helpful and a mreat inspiration to us. psilon Tau ALpha With the beginning of the 1955-56 scnool year opsilon Tau Alpha embarked on a new program with a new emphasis. In the fast our men's organization has rromoted growth of Christian rersonality through discussion, lecture, and debate. The newly modified pur- rose of ETA has not excluded the ideas of rast years but now ette rts to direct the young men of !iBC in growth as ministers. Lvery activity and every program this year is especially designed to helr make us better ministers in Christ's church. As student ministers :e realize that our formative years must be well directed 1f ve are to be successful in leading reorle to Christ through- out our lives. ETA meets once monthly at which time lectures, discussions, films, demonstrations, and sample sermons are pre- sented. A sermon contest is an innovation this year which we hope will improve our freaching abilities through competition. ETA {11 continue to helr mold men in the likeness of Christ, not onlv in charecter but ir se vic to ovr fellowmer 63 well. Alpha Beta X1 Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all nations... (Matthew 28:19) These words probably have a familiar sound to those who read them but they have a special meaning to the members of Alrha Beta Xi. Students give vue money to missions that they ordinarily would heave srent for a meal. Alrha Beta Xi places the world's need for Christ before the students of MBC. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Be- cause of the busy life of the wife of a student minister, a group of married women banded to- gether for fellow- ship, relaxation, and in order to develop their abilities of craft- manship. The club igs ably led by it's officers: Glenda Laymon, Pres.; Betty Housh, Vice- Fres.; and Levorl George, Sec-Treas. WARREN JACKSON GOSPEL Manhettean Bible College knows the equipment needed for successful Christian leadership cannot all be gotten out of books. A great part of the education of a student must come from actual experience and partic- ipation on the field. For this reason an organization of gospel teams has been formed with the objective of giving the students that needed experience. Each team is composed of a chalk artist, a song director, a minister, and special music. The teams go out on week-ends to various churches over Kansas and bring Christ to those congregations and, at the same time, gain val- uable experience. Margie Hoore, Fresident of the Organization.
