DEDICATION The 1978-79 edition of the Mandeville Elementary School memory book is dedicated to Dr. Lloyd M. Magruder, Jr. , better known as Mack' ' , who has faithfully served the children, parents, teachers, and community as school board member for twelve years. During his terms in office the school population, the Mandeville schools, has almost tripled. At all times, ' 'Mack's main concern was quality education for the children in his area . He worked day and night trying to secure funds to meet the ever increasing school population. He actively campaigned and supported the ' 'not so popular sales taxes which were the only way to raise funds for the school of St. Tammany Parish. During his terms in office, Mandeville Elementary was consructed and two additions made to the school. Mandeville Middle was renovated and additions made . Mandeville High was improved and a portion rebuilt due to numerous fires. Money was seemed to begin construction on a new Mandeville High School. ' 'Mack always worked hard to gain every dollar possible to make the educational facilities the best available . He would never, however, vote nor sacrifice anything that might lower the standard of education in the parish. Dr. Magruder is married to the former Martha Fuselier. They have three children, Trey, Susan, and Ian. He enjoys camping, family outings, and golf. He is an active alumus of Tulane University where he graduated in 1957. His hard work and concern for children in the Mandeville area will certainly be missed by his retirement from the school board. Enjoy your ' 'spare' ' time, Mack' ' , and thanks for all your help and support from the Mandeville Elementary faculty, staff, and children.
