CLASS HISTORY ln September, 1953, 19 scared little freshmen, named Donna Clarke, David Denny, Ramona Deveraux, Wayne Hackney, Margaret Johnston, John Kraft, Don Maul, Sharon Schwartz, Shirley Schwartz, Blanche Sova, Robert Tharp, Sharon Warfel, Sheila Wiley, and David Jares entered the halls of Manderson High School. Shaking in their boots and trying to keep out of the road of the almighty sophomores, they were caught and duly initiated into the student body of the school. The rest of the year was spent in keeping the grades up and joining the extracurricular activities. During that year our number in- creased by six with the enrollment of Jim Pritchard, Gloria Paumer, Vera Jean Crain, Alice Morris, Charles Gilmore, and Marjorie Lindquist. Our sophomore year saw the addition of Sandra Ackerman, Mae Crichton, Sharee Lenz, Charles Spurgeon, Barbara Strohman, and Jim Cooley increasing our class to 25, the largest our class had been during our high school years. After initiating the freshmen we settled down for the year. The girls spent the basketball season selling pop corn and candy for the expenses our junior year. We lost Sharee Lenz, Barbara Strohman, Marjorie Lindquist, Sharon Warfel, Blanche Sova, Don Maul, and Vera Jean Crain. Our junior year was very hectic as we prepared for our prom and banquet. The theme was Springtime in Paris. The Powell Junior College orchestra furnished the music. We held the banquet in the Washakie Grill banquet room. King and queen were seniors Har- old Artery and Nelda Booth. Jim Cooley, Donna Clarke, Ramona Deveraux, Alice Morris, and Mae Crichton left us and we gained Barbara Strohman during that summer. Our senior year was passed in a flurry as we put out the annual and prepared for graduation. We were honored by the juniors witha banquet and prom, April 5 and 6. Rob- ert Tharp and Sandra Ackerman were elected queen and king. Baccalaureate was May 12 and Graduation night was May 16. Thus we strive onward for 'Less than the best is failure.
