With the recently or- ganized Band Mothers' Club, the city service clubs and businessmen behind it, the band has been able to purchase a number of new instruments and new summer uniforms. Last year the band participated in the Minneapolis Aquatennial and plans are being made to make the trip again this July. Several concerts were presented during the year. Attending the festival at Jamestown, and having a picnic are two annual affairs. The Mandan High School Band will appear in a national yearbook. It will include our 'first chair players . Cooperation is the main ingredient in this organization. Under the able direction ofArnold Larson, the band hopes to. continue on its road to success. Jnniball The Mandan Braves had rough sledding in a tough Western Conference, winning two and W losing five. ln a non-conference game with a tough Devils Lake team, they battled to a C0-0 tie. They showed on several occasions that they were capable of brilliant football. Examples of these were the St. Leo's game which Mandan Won 40-0 and Dickinson whom Mandan battered to a tune of 35-0. Coach John Mack substituted freely in all games in an effort to build up a strong team for next year. His efforts resulted in 25 lettermen, a maiority of them returning, which gives bright promise for the future season to come. Credit was bestowed on the Braves when Bill Lord was chosen All-State Center for the second straight year. He was also chosen lineman of the year, and .was given honorable mention on Bm Lord the Little All-American Football Team. John Mach, Head Football Coach Let go of me, you bully. Give him c push, John. Get off my buck, boys! Boo hoo, they killed him! The Mandan Braves with only two returning lettermen, surprised the experts and went on to a very successful season. lncluded in their laurels were the capturing of the Christmas Tourney at Bismarck and going on to a perfect season against Western Con- ference competition on our home court. The Braves started out slow, losing four out of their first five games, but then they caught fire and went on to win eleven out of their next fourteen games. Unfortunately the Braves cooled off before they reached the divisional tournaments, and this resulted in their being forced out of the tourney in three games. This brought their record up to l3 wins and 9 losses. abhalmtball Coach - PAUL BROSTROM ROW ONE, Left to Right: E. Gratz, J. Sauter, T. Kelsch, S. Upham, E. Duffey. ROW TWO: J. Jensen, J.
