SMASHI G COURT PL Y Rounding out the season with a 9-8 record, the 1987 boys' tennis team was successful in achieving a .500-plus record despite the presence of only three seniors. As a four year veteran, senior Mike Bayer was ranked second in the state and worked his way to the quarterfinals in the state tourney while accumulating a 14-3 regular season record. LLPL YAN 0Pl.Y In April, 1987 Student Council presented its annual West Week. The Council's selection of in-school events, night events, and dress themes were great. They provided West with some fun and memorable moments. The creative dress themes led to much participation by both students and teachers. The week included Sweats Day, Dressup-Dressdown Day, Nerdomania Day, Dune Day, and of course, Class Colors Day. The night activities this year were very popular and fun for all. They included the Video Sock Hop Dance in the gym, the Senior Class Show, the comedian duo Burns and Kauf- man and the hypnotist, Cuy Anthony. Student Council ended the week with the Knight Iam Dance. The assemblies planned for each day of the week were a tremendous success. The band SRO performed live in the gym on Monday. Tuesday, the staff here at West presented the Faculty Follies. Annual Class competitions were held on Wednesday, and as always, the Mighty Mighties took first place. Thursday morning, the student body became the live audience of the NewlyWest Came. We watched our class couples find out just how well they knew each other! The Lip Sync Contest was held on Fri- day. Alicia Aumand and Melissa Murphy took first place with their rendition of Sunny and Cheris HI Cot You Babev. West Week ,87 was a fun filled week for both students and faculty.
