OIITSTANDI GI THEIR FIELD This yearis 1987 Girls Track team was packed with super stars. Denise Lallocca, as captain, supported her team with an 8-6 season record. As a team they came in second in the city meet with Class Lis in view for Sr. Denise LaRocca, Ir. jenn Zeludancz, Ir. Heidi Follet, jr. Karen Cote, Ir. Kelly Pearson, Ir. Maureen Broderick and Soph. Tracy Alsheskie. Many of these girls went onto the states, but jenn, Heidi and Kelly placed high en- ough to compete in New Englands. Who could ask for more? But Coach Shricker wants next year's team to rank even higher. 4 -.4 Above: Renee Klmble takes time Out to e2Se some tel'lSI0l1S. The unbeatable battery of Michelle Clement, pitcher and Lauren Lavigne, catcher, brought the team to the State Tournament. The girls reached the semi- finals by beating Central and Concord, but lost to Merrimack. The top players were junior Michelle Clement with a no hitter, Sophomore Amy Martin, second baseman for a tight defense and shortstop and backup pitcher, Freshman Jody Glea- son. Next yearis team looks very promising with a strong junior Varsity team. In their own season they worked very hard with the fresh new players. X Y QE, i . g 11, - :six Aw B ' xi L? A F G' 15' Although small in numbers and finish- ing with a subpar record, the 1987 boy's spring track team didnit fail to have its share of outstanding track and field stars as far as Class L and State meets are con- cerned. Among those who qualified for these meets were juniors Dave Monesmith in the triple jump and Mark Lahey in the long jump. In addition to the Class L and State Meets, Seniors Frank Bieniek and Dan Beaudet qualified for the New En- gland meet at Boston College in the 800 meter run and triple jump respectively. Both represented West with overflowing pride. Next year may surely prove to be a rewarding season as many promising un- derclassmen are sure to return with the renewed desire and intestinal fortitude of Olympic Athletes. . , ' T-'VFQ ls A I S fi S, fn.
