With the efforts of Senior co-captain, Rick Fitzgerald, and a supporting cast of juniors, Sophomores and Freshmen, the 1987 rebuilding season, which finished with an exceptable, 6-12 record, became one of hope. As we saw Sophomore Pat Gosselin and Freshmen john Tippet rise at the conclusion of the season to belt two home runs, we realized there was light at the end of the va tunnel. The unbeatable battery of Michelle Clement, pitcher and Lauren Lavigne, catcher, brought the team to the State Tournament. The girls reached the semi- finals by beating Central and Concord, but lost to Merrimack. The top players were junior Michelle Clement with a no hitter, Sophomore Amy Martin, second baseman for a tight defense and shortstop and backup pitcher, Freshman Jody Glea- son.
