With a pleasant and direct manner, lackie answers the phone at the insurance agency where she is employed, In COE, Cooperative Office Education students apply for part time jobs. Their jobs include various clerical activities. Before leaving at 12:25, the students attend their regular classes. Many students feel that this system is a good way to learn about earning a liv- ing. Mr. Burghardt, the C.O.E. instructor, is pleased with this year's program.

Diane works at Brooks, a store in North A8tP shopping center, Q W 4-1- 2. U' C '21 . 4 rn Education I 84 ll DE l and DE ll are Distributive Education courses. They involve students who are working in part time jobs. The students work in department stores and service out- lets. In distributive education, the classes are related mostly to the job, although the students learn to be competent in the classroom as well. A work study program, one which prepares an individual in the world of business, is offered to the students at Manchester. Each participating student receives the credits for attending class and for having an after- school job. Because of their jobs, the students are dismissed after just half of a school day.
