Stu- dents do not take such courses just to receive a high grade, but to learn skills necessary to compete in the business vvorld. Tvvo years of both typing and stenography are offered to prepare future secretaries or clerks. Bookkeeping is also offered from which a career in accounting could be derived. Even college preparatory stu- dents find some of these business courses worthwhile. Some knowledge of typing, for example, is necessary in college, since many assignments are accepted only in the type-written form. ...ping

Working at the blackboard helps students accumulate par- ticipation points. Working in Bio. Lab provides underclassmen with many new experiences. Bob, and George use the voltmeter in electronic shop. tf'1if,,,M6x From dissecting in Biology, to concocting in Chemistry, Manchester offers many different types of science experiences. Such courses as Biology, Earth Sci- ence, General Science, Chemistry and Physics are available for all students. Labs are included in the more advanced science courses, with one lab period a week. Experiments provide a deeper understanding of science for students, along with being quite enjoyable. The Science Department's aim is to teach students basic facts about the subject, and that is precisely what they do. Almost all the Math courses needed for college are offered here at Manches- ter. For underclassmen, basics, such as Algebra I and Geometry, are available, along with General and Business Math for students not planning on attending college. Advanced topics such as Trigonometry, Algebra lll and Analytic Geome- try are also covered. For the students interested in Math, Manchester can really supply all the work needed. When you add it all up, Math at Manchester is an interesting and rewarding subject. Busy as a beaver, Adrian concentrates in class. 25
