Abound I : 3 sw : Ei no CD SOCIAL STUDIES Columbus sailed the ocean blue Unfortu- nately not all history facts rhyme, but still the History Department manages to give us a comprehensive view of many facets of history, particularly of our own country. ENGLISH English may not be everyone's favorite subject, but it is necessary for anyone living in today's society to be able to communicate. The way in which a person expresses himself verbally and in written form will be an important factor in the success they attain. Man- chester's English teachers try to instill a basic under- standing of our language in all of the students, com- bined with exposing them to literature. Mini-courses also provide opportunities to explore different fields of study. In all, the English Department tries to make this important subject enjoyable. ART Creativity and individuality are the principles of the Art Department Students learn to express them- selves in such areas as sculpture, painting, designing and commercial art. With programs geared to bring out a person's talent, the Art Department sees many of its students going on to fine arts colleges all over the U.S. Who knows, maybe a future Michelangelo or Picasso is in Manchester right now!!! MUSIC Whether a person wishes to sing, play an instru- ment or merely gain insight into music, the Music Department enables students to become more famil- iar with music. The high moments of the school year include listening to the wonderful concerts given at Christmas and in the winter and spring. Playing an instrument means that a person is able to perform in the marching, stage or concert bands. For people with a great music interest the music appreciation class provides music environment. Many students will remember the great experiences in the Music Department. ,www I . .,,,. i X if I 1 1 .. . . ff. I ffft . . E- V .. ii. ..., t. ,, , ,,.. .. t 5 .V i ml . S . - I tt' ' Q! at ' I m .
