Friday. June 23. l978 was a day that marked happiness for most gradu- ating seniors, and disappointment for others. The commencement cere- monies began promptly at 6:30, attracting the usual crowd of parents, rel- atives, and friends, As the Class of '78 made its way down the hill. their excitement was expressed through cheers and gestures The actual cere- mony began without incident however as the sun began to set and the graduates came forward to receive their diplomas, some lost sight of what the real purpose of graduation entails. Others simply revealed their joy and excitement for this event. A small number of graduates did act in an unbecoming fashion, and caused the administration to take steps in with- holding their diplomas until later MIXED EMOTIO GRADUATIO GHT fi? 6cLong and Winding Road Leads Prom On June 9 I978 the Manchester seniors held their annual prom at the Town and Campus in West Orange To start the evening off everyone gathered in the lobby to social ize At the same time pictures were being taken by the Lorstan Thomas Studios Fol lowing the pictures was the promenade hour which included beverages and hors d oeuvres After cocktails the guests proceeded into the main dining room The mam dish prime ribs was served in a butler buffet style Accompa nymg the dinner was music by the Frank Bennett Orchestra They opened the evening by playing The Long and Winding Road which was the theme of the prom Receiving the honor of King and Queen of the prom was Loretta Livatmo and her escort Gus De Blasio s . . , s . . s ' as ' ' sa f Unsure of where to stand, Michelle and Craig are carefully positioned by the photographer. - wx K .K -.Q . . so My J .,,. kk .KK W g t , ,Xxx by g g!,. t 4 by i' 5 .
