In May I978, the upcoming Senior class nomi- nated sing girls, as eligible candidates for next year's Miss Manchester. Among the nominees were Lucinda Constein, Deb De Voogd, Ivy Frignoca, Phil Graziano, Lisa Marino, and Renee The girls were chosen on the basis of personali-ty, academic ability, and extra curric- ular activities. Each of them has played an active part in her school. Lucinda has been on the cheerleading squad for 3 years and a representative of her class for 4 years. After sewing 2 years on the student coun- cil, she was elected as its recording secretary. Debbie, who was chosen as the new Miss Man- Laurie Pfisterer - Miss Manchester 1977-78 5, 3 ,h , ,lili Lucinda Constein Renee Rizzi 54 chester, has been a cheerleader for 4 years. She was chosen as one of the captains for the Varsity squad. Deb has been on student council for 4 years and was elected as corresponding secretary this year. She also served as treasurer of the jun- ior class. Ivy has played an active part in the music department. She sang for both choir and Madri- gals and appeared in 2 MEA productions. After serving 2 years on the student council she was elected President this year. Ivy also served as class president her freshman year and served 2 years as a representative. Phil, having served 2 years as the Class Presi- dent, was again chosen this year. She has been on the student council for 3 years and has partici- pated in both cheerleading and color guard for 1 year. Lisa has been a member of the student council for 4 years. She was a cheerleader for 4 years and was chosen as one of the varsity squad captains this year. She served 1 year as sophomore Vice President. Renee has been a cheerleader for 4 years. She was chosen as a J.V. captain her sophomore year. Having served 3 years on the student council, Renee was elected as treasurer in her last year. The candidates escorts were selected from among those boys who were nominated for Boys' State. They were Paul Terlizzi, Rob Collella, Steve Barbarulo, Stew Lampe and John Mayer. Before the big night of the crowning of Miss Manchester arrived, all the candidates made speeches saying that this year the role of Miss Manchester would change She would be more involved in student government and other school Debbie Wins activities. The night arrived, and Deb DeVoogd was chosen to represent our school. ln spite of all the promises and ideas, the title of Miss Man- chester remains asjust that a title Debbie's warm smile helped her win the title of Miss Manchester. Miss Manchester and her escort Bob Collella after her crowning. The excitement shows in Debbie's face as she hears her name announced.
