Student Council ls Our Training Ground for Democracy . The Student Council, under the direction of lVlr. Glaeser, worked to further the best interests of the student body. During the year, the Council sponsored sports dances, pep rallies, the A.F.S. Program, two proms, and the Council presiden- tial election. ln the spring, a Nlerit Awards Ban- quet was held to honor students who had done outstanding work in their respective clubs. Fall activities included the sale of S.A.A., the sole financial support of the extra-curricular pro- gram, and football boosters, along with the for- mation of a townwide student organization. Each year the students of NIHS are brought together for assemblies. The top- ics are wide and vary from the campaign speeches of the Student Council presiden- tial candidates to the Christmas concert presented by the choirs.
