Girls’ fleld hockey team . . . “a swing and a miss.” Through athletic competition, both intramural and interscholastic, students at Manchester High develop physically and emotionally in the ideals of fair play and sportsmanship. The Physical Education Department, headed by Miss Julia Case, is responsible for the athletic growth of the students. Boys who are especially active in athletics are honored by membership in the Varsity “M” Club, under the guidance of Mr. Nicholas Costa..The Leaders’ Clubs give students the opportunity to display their leadership quali- ties in physical education classes. The many com- petitive sports at M.H.S. include: soccer, football, basketball, wrestling, cross country and track, rifle shooting, baseball, golf, tennis, and swim- ming. The chess team engages in a less physi- cally strenuous type of competition. Students especially proficient in swimming skills make up the Aquaettes, under the guidance of Miss Mary Faignant. The Club presents an annual water ballet for the enjoyment of M.H.S. students and parents. The Varsity and Junior Varsity Cheer- leaders lead M.H.S. students in cheering their competing teams on to victory. GRADUATING... the final act to a memorable performance — The final act in the high school performance before the curtain of the world is raised and we all become act door on a memora- 2 opening of another door to a world of The Seniors of the clas 1964 have ked long and hard for the memorable day of their graduation. They have de- voted their time and talents to of Manchester High School. Upon several have fallen ponded most cheerfully to the call of serv- fellow classmates. Many of these gradu- ice by ating students have been honored for their service to their school and their community, and still others for their outstanding creative and academic accomplish- ments. In June of 1964, 750 deserving seniors re- ceived their coveted diplomas signifying the closing curtain to the final act of a memorable performance.
