This year the G. H. Reid Chapter of the National Honor Society tapped fifteen Juniors and twelve Seniors, making a total of forty-nine members in this honor club. The purpose of the society is to. stimulate the scholarship, the leadership, the service, and the character of high school students. A person must excel in these before he is qualified for membership in the Honor Society. Selling candy is one of the projects of the National Honor Society. Awarding a scholarship to one of its graduating members, selling candy during the lunch periods, furnishing and renewing the college catalogues for use in the guidance office, and publishing a school handbook are the projects and goals of the society. National Funior Honor Society The W. N. Kaempf Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society has striven to interest eighth, ninth, and tenth grade students in leadership, scholarship, service, and character. Freshmen and Sophomores maintaining an average of B or above are eligible for membership. During Christmas, members filled baskets of Officers are Tommy Hamrick, Chaplain; Irene McDaniel, Vice- President; David Whitt, Presi- dent; David McKinley, Treasurer; Ricky Nolting, Sergeant-at-Arms; Nancy Clarke, Secretary; Miss Ann Callahan and Mrs. June Evans, Sponsors. food for needy families. Also, a Christmas tree was decorated for the front hall of the main building. Annually the Society takes part in an Easter party for the children of the Methodist Home. Candy is sold during the lunch hour all year to raise money for the National Junior Honor Society Scholarship Fund.
