S. C. A. encourages better Through its work, the Student Cooperative Association strives to instill in the minds of its members qualities of good citizenship. This organization of all students promotes better un- derstanding betw een the students and faculty. encourages school improvement and is concerned with the general welfare of the school. Student respect for authority, self-discipline, leadership, fellowship, school spirit, scholarship, a feeling of unity and a sense of belonging are accom- plished through the Student Cooperative Asso- ciation. A council of students is elected to serve in an official capacity on issues concerning the entire student body. This year the G. H. Reid Chapter of the National Honor Society tapped fifteen Juniors and twelve Seniors, making a total of forty-nine members in this honor club. The purpose of the society is to. stimulate the scholarship, the leadership, the service, and the character of high school students. A person must excel in these before he is qualified for membership in the Honor Society. Selling candy is one of the projects of the National Honor Society. National Honor Society OrFicers: Willie Cash- ion, Chaplain; Virginia MacNeil, Historian; Mary Virginia Smith, Treasurer; » Brenda Heath, Secretary; Joyce Fowler, Vice- President; Schaeffer Renner, President. Awarding a scholarship to one of its graduating members, selling candy during the lunch periods, furnishing and renewing the college catalogues for use in the guidance office, and publishing a school handbook are the projects and goals of the society.
