May they always remember the happy hours of work and play which they have had here. The teachers to whom we owe a great deal for their instruction, leadership, triendshlp, and guidance will always have our heartfelt thanks and sincere regards. Tomorrow will he the time to see whether we can practice what we have learned during our four years in high school. Fortified by the knowledge that He can who thinks he cann, we are confident that wc can attain our place in this world. l 2 Qtlellii ff- At the present time, the world is engaged in an armament race with a result unknown. Many retaliations could come from this cold war. The hydrogen bomb, which is infinitely more powerful and destructive than the atomic bomb, could annihilate all mankind by making the earth nninhabitable. Another catastrophe would be the destruction of the earth by a terrific explosion. All this horror could be prevented. The United Nations, now at work day and night on international problems, is definitely the biggest preventative of a catastrophe. With full cooperation from all the countries in the World and with an international control Of the weapons of these countries, this world would survive for many more centuries. To this ideal-worlcl peace and universal brotherhood-we, the Class of 1950, dedicate this volume of Les Memoires. 3 LIES MTEMU RES - f x - f fSfS'f'?'f' rf f'r9'f4- r99fi'9'J-'Af 15' if H r'w'5'SfffiY3fr'- 9'iff'r'Sfi'39'r'f'?f5'P'39'i9'ifff'f'f'f99995 TABLE UF CONTENTS Forc'wm'cl . . CLASS PROPHECY Dear Diary, Today, May 4, 1953, I met an old friend while shopping in York. We got to talking about school days and she asked me what the cliass of 1950 was doing after three years have passed since our graduation from Manchester High School. Like all women I told her the news about our class and now diary I am writing it to you. The first person I told her about was Phyllis Melhorn, who is now traveling all over the states with her lmsband, a famous big league ball player. Lavinia Buckner is the head bookkeeper for Preston Bupp. Preston has his own business, Buppis trucking Company. One of his truck drivers is Carl Lehr. Carl is married and has a small family of four. joan Lady is now happily married to Bruce and has a lovely pair of twins. David Lippy owns his own riding academy. 'iBill', Leicht plays with the 101 M. H. S. boys. They are now recording for Columbia. . Gloria Livingston is going to nurses training at john Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. LuAn Oliphant is going to Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia to train to be a nurse. llelen Preble is also training to be a nurse at XVOIHHIIIS College in North Caro- lina. Estella Lelnnan is attending the F. H. A. Convention in Kansas City, Kansas. She is planning to make her home there. These girls all stuck together in high school. I guess they will have a hard time getting to see each other over the week ends since they are separated. Marian Ziegler and Charles Neff are married. They now have a little junior and also own one of Wolf's mansions in Mt. YVolf. Charliei' said he would like to raise all boys so he could have a basketball team of his own. Rena Clemens has her own beauty shop in York Haven. I donit believe she will ever leave that town. Elaine Bowen and Anna jane Strine are now making a hit in Hollywood. Elaine is a pianist and Anna jane is a singer. Yes, Anna married Leonard after school was over and Elaine is still trying to win 'iDonnie,'. Mary and Martha are still single. Last year they were Potato Queens and this year they are trying for twin Miss America titles. Donald Gilbert owns his own turkey farm and Raymond Fink is his assistant. I don't believe Elouise Smith can make up her mind about Donley,'. Oh, well some day I guess sheill get married. Doreen Wilt works in a department store but she probably will end up marrying a farmer boy. john Hall is manager of Dauberis Nursery. jolm said that he was going to buy Mr. Dauberis business from him and change the name to Hall's nursery. Maxcine Ensminger is still undecided which boy she wants now that she is eighteen. ujoev Stephens is a State Policeman. He now directs the traffic in Manchester. Pray Krebs is going to school. IIe plans on being an expert machinist. Rusty Kohr is now sailing the oceans, for Uncle Sam. Minnie Shipley is now Postmistress of the York Haven Post Office. I guess james Cassel will end up with Betty. They want to marry after Betty is out of school. Rodney Beck is now President of Penn State College. He is married and expects to have a family very soon. He met his Wife while going to Penn State. At the last minute Carl Snelbaker and Norma Strong decided to be partners in some business. They own a school called, Strong and Snelbakeris Business School. After I told her about the classmates she wanted to know what I was doing. I told her I am a Seamstressv and have my own business. I also keep house for jim in Dover. That is all for today, Diary.
