MANCHESTER HIGH SCHOOL Manchester High School has experienced a phenomenal development from the small two-year high school founded in 1908 with classes in Man' chester Fraternity Hall, to the present large structure with over two hundred twenty-five students, and eleven teachers. The present building was completed in 1926. Two large additions were added to the original building in 1936 and 1937 respectively, offering adequate gymnasium facilities to the student body. At present the school offers courses as follows-Academic, Commercial, Home Economics, General and Agricultural. Manchester High School trains its graduates to develop into useful citizens by placing emphasis both on the curricular and on the extra-curricular activi- ties. Among student publications and organizations are-the student hand book, The Orange and Black, the student newspaper, The Echo-Log, the senior annual, Les Memoiresf' Opportunity for character development is offered by the Hi-Y and Girl Reserve Clubs and The Student Council. The school likewise has maintained an enviable record of victories in athletics although fair play and good sportsmanship are stressed more than athletic victories. Prof. Scott Knaub, Assistant Superintendent of schools, was principal of the high school from 1908 to 1931. ln 1931 Prof. Chester H. Royer was elected Supervising Principal of the Manchester schools-a position which he has very capably filled until the present time, Mr., Allen Beshore is the present president of the Manchester Board of Education.
