AS you, Seniors, leave I-Iigh School, remember that your education is never ended, that when you arrive at the day called Graduation, it stands for a new beginning, not an ending of your education, that life will hold for you success and happiness in the measure in which you have developed it today. CHARLES W. SPANGLE YEARBOOK ADVISORS Miss Diana THE Senior Class Wishes to express its thanks to Miss Diana and Miss Zibella for the great work they have done in making the yearbook a success. Although this is Miss Diana's first year With us, she has shown great interest in the Work she has done for the school. Miss Zibella, from previous experience, has done an excellent job in guiding and managing I the finances of the yearbook. Miss Zibella FACULTY... Row l-Mr. Howard, Miss Strong, Mrs. Hatton, Miss Augustine, Miss Diana Miss Dayton, Miss Zibella Row 2-Miss Rogers, Mrs. O'Dell, Mrs. Allen, Mrs. Galbraith, Miss Mertz Mr. Spangle, Miss Gardner, Mr. Kaufman, Miss Shelly WHEN We start reminiscing ot those by-gone days, And our memory is muddled, and We're more or less amazed Because we find the knowledge that We've attained today Traces back to our teachers with their understanding ways. They taught us how to read and to add, And, when We couldn't pass, we all felt very sad, But teacher would just pass it by and cheer us up a bit, And tell us We could do better it We wiould put our minds to it. Because of all their thoughtiulness and never ending aid, We want to continue on and be for what We're made, And when We reach our goal in life . . the desire of our heart We'll Wander back to those days when our teachers gave us our start Bird's Eye View of Our High School Faculty TEACHERS are scarce, to that you will agree, And our faculty makes up quite a variety. Take, for instance, Miss Gardner, who lives a life of ease, Her favorite saying is, Be quiet, PLEASE. Our science teacher is Mrs. O'Dell, She usually arrives ten minutes after the bell. Miss Augustine is our teacher of homemaking, She helps us with our cooking and baking. Whenever you hear laughter and song, Miss Zibella will undoubtedly be in the throng. The newest member of the staff is Mrs. Hatton, She sure knows her business in English and Latin. When it comes to advice, Miss Diana is a peach, She is always so willing and, oh, can she teach. Mr. Howard directs our Chorus and Band, They will soon be famous throughout the land. Former Miss Roberts, our teacher of math, Is now Mrs. Allen, since that man crossed her path. And last but not least, is All-star Kaufman, He sits all day either writin' or talkin'. Now all kidding aside, our faculty rates Above the highest in any State. So, let's give a cheer for their work every day, With a great big HIP, HIP, and a HURRAY. f61'fQl T i ---J, fix? -W , ' ...aj I , f 4- Q ...-il A----if in U ll lf Q X f llll gli ana--4 ew X lt, , or Senior Class Officers . . A record is kept of all sales so that We know the exact amount each pupil has purchased and the total for each homeroom. The-'two grades which have purchased the greatest amount ot bonds and stamps are the Second and Ninth Grades. At the present time the total sales for the entire school are about 53,500 Because ot the very splendid cooperation of both students and faculty, it has been possible for us to sponsor two jeeps. Our school is now eligible for a special citation from the Treasury Department. Such a record shows that Manchester is backing the attack. HOMEMAKING . . . Halder- man, Miss Zibella THE Commercial Club has selected the following officers for the school year: Helen Hill, President, Dorothy Ryan, Vice-president, Betty Vander- Wall, Treasurer, and Gladys Schultz, Secretary. One of our first activities this year was the publication of the school paper, the first issue in three years. Its success was due to the hard Work- ing members of the Club. The main job of the members is to sell the yearbook, each member acting as a salernan for the school. Under Miss Zibella's direction, everyone did his part and enjoyed the activities during the year. Our Good Friend Mr. Wylie WHO keeps the campus grounds neat and attractive? Who keeps the boiler going in the Winter? Who keeps the school building clean? Of course, it is our school custodian, Mr. Wylie, who has been with us for the past two years. He can be seen as early as six-thirty in the morning, Walking down the street, ready to begin his day's Work. Every class has reason to thank Mr. Wylie for his assistance at their class functions. We hope that Charlie will continue to be with us for many years. IN the World of tomorrow there can be no Wars. Although the desire of man cannot be suppressed, it can be given a healthy outlet. The field of sports must be substituted for the battlefield. The athletic program at Manchester offers usan opportunity to build sportsmanship and health through friendly competition.
