On March 5, 1959. ground was broken for the new high school building. The high school students were dismissed to walk to the ceremony, which was held on the site of the new high school. The school song and the national anthem were played by the high school band. Dr. Carl Holl. representing the Man- chester School Board; Ross Briner, heading the Building Corporation; and Herbert Bradley, president of the present Manchester Senior Class turned the first shovels of dirt. The cornerstone laying ceremony for the new high school building was held September 17, 1959. Dr. A. Blair Helman, president of Manchester College, gave the address for this meaningful ceremony. Dr. Helman presented the following thought in his speech. The year 1960 inscribed may well prove one of the significant years of mankind in this rapidly changing world. This building comes of heartache, planning, and struggle with honest doubt. The box was placed in the cornerstone by- Glenn Beery, president of the North Manchester - Chester Township School Building Corporation. TOMORROW
