Officers: Henry Depew, Treasurerp Roxie Reeves, Presidentp Marilyn SNEA The Manatee Junior College chapter ot Student NEA was organized last year and has now grown To an active membership of fifteen. The main project for the year was the observation of classes at Bayshore Elementary and the local high schools. Mrs. Wake- land of the County School Otlice and Miss Rum Pyche, MJC counselor and co-sponsor, were two of the guest speakers at the chapter meetings. One of the main social activities of the year was the Christmas party at the home of Howard Hult, taculf advisor. Other activities included a pool party qi Marilyn Heistand's and a coffee during one of The meetings. Y Membership in Student NEA is open to all studems interested in teaching. SNEA members and guests at a party, Janice Stringer, Bill Robertson, Roxie Reeves, Mr. Hult, Marilyn Heistand, and Henry Depew begin preparation for the forthcoming year. S A I i '-'TP

Phi Rho Pi In the short space of one year, the Gamma Chapter of Phi Rho Pi has become a valuable asset to the campus of Manatee Junior College. This outstanding organization has contributed largely in establishing the college in the field of speech in the state. The purpose of this club is to aid interested students in gaining proficiency in the art of effective speech by providing extra-classroom speaking and training situations. The club presented a campus-wide forensic intra- mural in which more than fifty students participated in debate, acting, oral interpretation, and oratory. The members also participated in workshops in vari- ous cities in the state. A number of trophies vvere presented to the debate team, a division of the club.
