Student Government ssociation Elected by the student body, the Student Govern- ment Association is the representative executive, iudicial, and legislative bodies of Manatee Junior College, and its purpose is to supervise all student organizations. The main aims of the SGA are to co- ordinate activities and events, to direct expenditure of student activity tees as allocated by the Student Faculty Budget Committee, to advise the Director ot Student Personnel on student matters, and to pro- mote the general welfare of the students. Among the special activities undertaken this year by the organization were the class elections, Rat Week, the Halloween Dance, the Cinderella Ball, the Bal de Noel with the crowning of Miss MJC, the Valentine Dance, Sadie Hawkins Week, the an- nual Luau, Honors Assembly, the Spring Formal Dance, and the Student Government Association elections. ,-.o...- Busy at their work of preparing the decorations for the Bal de Noel are Jim Andresen, Sunny Whitaker, chairman of decorations, Sharon Kidwell, and Kathy Stubbs. Committee of 20 Selected for their excellence in leadership, scholarship, or a combination of both activities, a body ot twenty students are chosen each year to represent Manatee Jun- ior College. The creation ot this committee ot 20 was the idea ot Mrs. Florence Girvin, Director ot Publications. The group serves as official hosts and hostesses to visiting dignitaries, and during orientation and registration of incoming freshmen and transfer students, aids the new students in finding classes and adiusting to campus lite. Sponsoring the group this year is Mrs. Helen Mallonee. A main iob of the Committee of 20 is assisting the faculty and administration in the process of the registration of new students.
