Fans were enter- tained by such songs as Get it On and l'd Like to Teach the World to Sing. The District 9 band contest was held at the Manatee High football field this season with a capacity crowd filling the stadium. The Band and Drill Team were awarded a Superior rating for their performance. They competed against nine other schools from the area. Marching Band Mari Tappy concentrates on her twirling while the Band and Drill Team march in the background. Crowd Cheers Closing Show The directors of both Band and Drill Team, expressing the desire for improved relations, arranged for the senior members of Band and Drill Team to participate in the creation of their very own routine for the last half-time show of the season. With the Band shaping a seven and the Drill Team a three, they performed to the tune of You've Said lt All. The two senior majorettes twirled to the music which was soon echoed by the clapping of the crowd. The last half-time show was also set aside for the Sugar Canes an- nual dance which they performed to A Taste of Honey. 66 WW ww The Marching Band was lead on the field by the 1972 Drum Major and Majorette, Greg Taylor and Sarah Ford. Practicing their routine for the final show . Geraldson, Sandra Vinson, Ruth Gest, and are seniors Valorie Lovett, Carol Linda Hoza.
