Groduotion Graduation Held For 1973 Class Commencement exercises for the class of 1973 were held june 7 at Hawkins Stadium. Seniors spent the previous two mornings with rehearsals for the event. Due to the threat of rain, preparations were made to hold the graduation in the Bradenton Municipal Auditorium. However, the weather cleared and the ceremony went as scheduled. The Reverend Roland D. Vanzant gave the Invocation and Reverend james W. Higgins delivered the Benediction. Senior speakers were jan Smith and Dwayne Honon. The subject selected was There Can Be No Great Action Until There ls Thought, with lan speaking on The Spirituality Behind Thought and Dwayne on the Intellectual Achievements of Thoughts. Special music was presented by the Manatee Singers and the Symphonic Red Band. Presentation of diplomas was made by Mr. A. P. ivturray, assisted by Mr. C. W. Lacy. Also speaking were Principal Wheeler B. Leeth and Senior Sponsor Mrs. Barbara Fintel. Mr. William Yates recognized seniors who had received scholarships. The Senior Class officers were President lim Forssell, Vice- president Dianna Yates, Secretary Susan Moorhead and Treasurer Lisa Thompson. The class flower was the rose, colors were light blue and dark blue. The motto chosen by the class was Stand up for what you think is right even if you stand alone. The evening was climaxed by the Senior Party held at the Bradenton Municipal Auditorium after the commencement exercises. At this time, the senior class presented a gift to Mrs. Barbara Fintel for her help throughout the year as their class sponsor. I5
