ll ,., Science Department Laser Beam Demonstrated Many new discoveries were made by students enrolled in the science program. Several of these breakthroughs involved the laser beam which was purchased at the beginning of the year. Physics students were instructed in its structure and use, while biology classes were concerned with the structures of plants and animals. Ecology was a widely discussed subject in the Earth-Science classes. Several debates were held in order to propose the steps that needed to be taken in the Bradenton area. Marine Biology students went on field trips to collect specimens which were then placed in holding tanks. Math Pioneers New Careers In order to meet with future demands, students at MHS found it necessary to learn to count change! Of course, the math classes taught how to perform this task and much more. Math Analysis and Math V involved a more extensive study for the college bound student. For the not so daring, modern courses in Algebra and Geometry were offered. For future office workers enrolled in the business program, Business Math provided a background for the daily problems concerning math that they will someday face. An important trigonometry identity, Math Analysis classes, set many given for homework in Mrs. TinsIey's students' thought centers to work. l74
