Language Department Language Aids Travel Abroad Students in the language department acquired many useful lingual skills that they can use if they ever travel abroad. The Conversational Spanish students now know how to ask for food, clothing, lodging, and plane tickets if they ever go to any Spanish speaking country. Latin classes studied mythology and classical heritage, while French classes learned about modern France through readings and conversations. Many opportunities to use this knowledge were made available to students. Mr. Gobin took a group of interested students on a tour of Europe with an emphasis on France. Mrs. Kidder sent two students to the Instituto Hispanoamericano in Zacatecas, Mexico. While they were there, they stayed with Mexican families and studied under teachers who spoke only Spanish. Knowledge of a second language will become an essential part of our lives. The United States recently became the fifth largest Spanish speaking country in the world. Mr. C. H.
