Golf Experienced Golfers Excel Losing only one player by graduation, the linksters were ready for the season to begin. Returning to the squad were jeff johnston, George DeSear, Mike Pearson, Mike Drummond, Carl Callahan, and Wayne johnson. Practicing after school at the Bradenton Country Club, the players with the lowest scores were checked by Coach Wilford Stokes. The ones with the best scores during the week were the ones that competed in the matches. Blasting out of the sand trap was the only way out for Mike Drummond. Peter Warrick tries to clear six feet in the high jump. The Varsity Track Coaches are David Greene, Tommy Plaster, Kirk Horswill, and Andy Toombs. Track Calvin Gissendanner finishes fast to win the 100 yard dash. Cross Country Shows Desire Having the willpower to run 2V2 miles before school and seven miles after school, the Cross Country Team paid for success. Bob Delonge, john Duey, Mark Dillon, Eric Englehard, Pat Mowry, Derek Pilger, Matt Gallo, Tony Tillis, Villard Houston, and Chris Clark made up the hard-working group. Always seen with the team was Coach David Green, riding his ten speed bicycle behind them. 155

Tennis Aided By New Courts The new tennis courts on Ninth Avenue gave the Tennis Team some additional practice area. ln this rapidly growing sport, open courts are very rare. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bishop took over the coaching spots for the Tennis Teams. The Girls' Team was hurt by graduation and had only only two returning players, Cindy Stewart and Teresa Morgan. The Boys' Team was very experienced in that they had four returning lettermen, Myles Williams, john Lopez, Mike Merritt, and Larry Roberts.
