Varsity Cagers Finish at 15-8 The Hurricanes ended a successful but yet disappointing season by bowing to Lakewood, 66-60, in the District 11 playoffs. The senior- led team played at a .652 clip, but they still fell short of their main goal, reaching the State Tournament. After getting off to a slow start, the cagers started a 7 game winning streak with a 84-68 win over Oak Ridge in the Christmas Tournament. The highlight of the streak, as well as the season, was the 75-71 victory over powerful Clearwater. Coach james Tiny Moffett believed this was the only game in which our team played up to its potential. Randy Speas lays in two points aganist outclassed Riverview

Cheerleaders show emotions after the victory at the District Tournament. il- e New Branch Starts Spirit This was the first year MHS had Wrestling Cheerleaders. Missy Hunter, lan Smith, Sharon Overton, Linda Bundy, and Augusta Po were selected to this initial group. They traveled to St. Petersburg for the District Tournament and to Ft. Lauderdale for the State Tournament as well as cheering at all regular season matches.
