Pep Club Ella Mae Glover, Phyllis Lang, Sharon Gavin, and Vickie Hudson cheer excitedly with other Pepsters at a football game. Pepsters Aid Peace Corps One of the most unified groups of students at MHS was the Pep Club. The one hundred strong group was headed by Mr. Thomas Orehowsky, adviser, who aided the club in all their efforts. They strived to attend all the different sports events both near and far. On one occasion while the club was traveling to the first away football game in Winter Haven, the bus broke down in a small town. Even through hardships like this, the Pep Club remained spirited and united. Along with school activities, the club held a bottle drive. The money raised from this project was given to the Peace Corps Fund to help build a school. OFFICERS President.. ............. ....... P am Mitchell Vice-president ................. Meditations Chairman Betsy Keaton reads one of the inspirational thoughts chosen by the club. Club Provides Daily Thought Before listening to the morning announcements, students were able to hear an inspirational thought. The Meditations Committee read aloud each day giving the students something to think about in the silent time that followed. These readings were decided upon at the meeting on Special Enrichment Day. Each member was responsible for bringing in twenty selections per semester in order to receive a pin. Those who volunteered to read for two weeks chose a different poem daily to present to the students. 100 ' 1 fl!!
