Assltfill -LA Cane fans followed the MCHS nine Through an eleven game Western Conference schedule. Games were played at the l3th Street and Braves' Ball Parks. For the hrst time in Western Conference his- tory, teams competed only once for conference standings. Rernatches were played but did not affect the standings. Among Iettermen returning to the '57 squad was George Wallace who placed on the T956 All-Conference Second Team. Team members practice sixth period instructed by Coach Don Linton. Home matches with Chamberlain, Plant, St. Petersburg, Sarasota, Boca Ciega, and Clearwater were played at the water front Tennis Courts. Each sixth period members practiced with Coach Mable Clark and volunteer Coach Eugene Nolan to improve various game fundamentals. For each game the teams dressed in sparkling whites as they are for this picture. Below, Boys' Captain, Jay Boosinger and Girls' Captain, Carol Sue Shiplett pause for a drink of water with Miss Clark. This is the only sport on conference level that is open to girls.
