CROSS-COUNTRY X-COUNTRY UND EFEATED CHAMPIONS Continuing in a winning tradition the X-Country team proved to be the best ever at Manalapan and gained statewide recognition winning three championships. It was their 4th consecutive F.R.H.S. District Championship, 2nd consecutive Shore Conference B title and first Central Jersey Group III state championship. They also won team trophies at the Edison Invitation, Bemards Invitation, Monmouth County Championships and State Finals. Seniors co-captains Blaine Salvador and Paul Sorkin provided the leadership that kept the Braves a model teamg both completed spectacular 3 year varsity careers with a combined team dual meet record of 39-1. Senior Mike Carter tumed in a spectacular season running in the number three positiong he was the strength of the team in the middle posi- tions. Tim Anderson 492 and Joe Puorro 4 5 rounded out the team that set a school record for shutouts, eight out of 14 meets. All five first team members received post season recognition as the Braves dominated the All-Districts and All- Conference teams. Blaine Salvador and Tim Anderson also received AllCounty and All-Shore mention with Blaine a lst team selection and Tim 2nd team on the County team. Coaching a team with the character, attitude and desire shown by the entire team made it the most rewarding coaching experience in my thirteen years of X-Country coaching said coach Reinhardt, I'd give anything to have a group like this any year, any place, they were winners in every way.
