Principal's Message It is indeed a pleasure to have the opportunity to extend my best wishes to the graduating class of 1983. My purpose in writing this message is to congratulate and commend all of you for the accomplishments that you have made. I wish for you the very best in the future and hope that you will always feel a loyalty to Man High School. It is your responsibility as future citizens to help to make this world a better place in which to live, however, without a good education you cannot hope to do so. Your future depends upon how you use the knowledge that you have gained. It gives me a great deal of satisfaction for our graduates to go out into society and become successful citizens. I hope that you will always have an interest in your Alma Mater and its welfare. As principal, I shall be happy to aid you in any way I can. Sincerely, Bob T. Kerley, Principal 2

Dedication We, the 1983 Man High Echo Staff, wish to dedicate our annual yearbook to Mrs. Betty Chappell. Mrs. Chappell graduated from Man High School and furthered her education at Marshall University where she was a member of the Tri-Sig Sorority. She then returned to her alma mater to teach Biology for the past 32 years. In deep appreciation of her understanding, guidance, and patience, we dedicate our yearbook to her!

Philosophy Success and Failure. These two words are constantly with us in our lifetimes. One is desirable and the other shunned. Yet, they are only two sides of the same coin. Success means achievement while failure means that one has not achieved all that was attempted. The key word here is attempted. One should never be ashamed of failure. Disheartened, yes. Disappointed, yes. But never ashamed; for can there ever be success without trying? Never be afraid of failing if you give it your all. The real shame is the lack of struggle in one’s character to even try. Putting forth the maximum effort is the only real important thing. One can fail without trying, but one can never succeed without trying. Denny Miller 3
