Dedication We. the yearbook staff of 1982. would like to dedicate our yearbook to these two outstanding teachers. Mrs. Gretchen Donahue and Mrs. Linda Cline, both whom we admire dearly. Mrs. Gretchen Donahue after graduating from Man High in 1962. began teaching in 1967 after receiving an A.B. in Education Fields and Mathematics and Physical Education from Marshall University. While attending Marshall she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega, and her senior year she was chosen as a Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities and a Senior Senator. She resides in South Man with her husband Mike, and her sons Jason and Brian. She is a member of the Bruce McDonald Memorial United Methodist Church where she is a Sunday School teacher. Presently she is the sponser of the Keywannettes and the newly formed Gamma Delta Pi. We. the senior class, would like to thank her for all the help and support she has given us during the past three years. Philosophy Giving advice is at best risky. A person risks appearing more knowledgeable, more learned, and more wise than he really is. He may even risk appearing pompous. A cliche says. The best advice is no advice.” Keeping in mind these risks, a person must remember that his advice can come only out of his accumulated experience and from his present perspective. To each senior I will say that I have learned that one should attempt to maintain the idealism of his youth, but to temper it with reality: one should keep his aspirations high, but within the realm of possibility: and one should always strive for excellence, even in the smallest tasks; if one fails (and everyone does at times) he should never cease to try. It is important to seek truth and beauty everywhere, to love generally and specifically, to hope and never give in to despair, to have a sense of humor so as not to take oneself too seriously, and to cultivate a love of learning and a desire to know that will continue throughout one's life when many other assets have deserted one. Equally important is to act as wisely as possible on this knowledge. Finally, always remember that though one is only a small part of humanity, each person is a unique and sacred part, as is every other individual. Cultivate and preserve this individuality.
