Coaches: William (Tootie) Carter, Wayne Bennett, Charles (Proc) Cook PHILOSOPHY PEOPLE AND BOOKS .A Philosophy represents an ideal toward which one sets his goals. It I is a person's belief in himself and his fellow man. As a teacher, a rea- listic philisophy, it seems to me has been, “Today is the first day ol the rest of your life , as every day beings forth special pleasures and joy. There are so many new ideas to be learned and shared. We must not dwell so much on the failures of the past but look toward the future searching for ways we may best serve our schools and communities. People and books are what school libranianship, my chosen profes- sion, is all about. Today’s school librarian is a teacher, a teacher in training, certification, service, and attitude. The librarian s responsi- bility extends beyond organizing and maintaining a collection of learning materials. It includes planning cooperatively with teachers and working directly with both students and teachers. It means serv- ing the needs of the individual user of the library. My goal is to help provide every student with the education obtain- able through reading. This certainly does not mean education in any narrow sense, but rather, the culture of mind and spirit that books can bring to everyday life. Education in its ideal sense is the reading of books for spiritual and intellectual needs, for vocational informa- tion and for recreation. My second goal is to bring the right book to the right reader at the right time. JoAnne Hensley 4 EDITOR'S COMMENT Another year has passed, and hidden inside it are many memories. Later on in life a yearbook will provide us with hours of enjoyment and pleasure as we recall the numerous events which peppered our school life. Completing a yearbook would not have been possible without the help of so many. Each person in the school holds a special place in our yearbook. The staff joins me in saying, “Thank you” to our advertisers, the faculty, the student body and most of all to our sponsor, Mr. Hagood. Being editor of the yearbook has been a great honor for me and I hope this year’s publication will provide many mo- ments of happiness to each who owns one. Debbie Doss 5 MISS MAN HIGH 1972-73 Pam Fox Homecoming ( ueen and Court (L to R) Dianna Murphy, Soph. Att.; Nancy Noel, Sr. Att.; Pam Fox, Miss Man High; Nancy Daniels, Sr. Att.; Diana Tudor, Jr. Att. Nancy Noel Pam Fox Nancy Daniels Senior Court Members “Through the years that make our his- tory, some men are there who lived and died sung, unsung by men of their own time . . The Senior Class wishes to dedicate these pages to the faculty and administration of Man High School. During the years we have been at Man High School, many members of the fac- ulty have been there at our times of need. Often students become frustrated with their load and problems in general. The faculty members have a way of per- suasion that just does not quit. They were beside us to give that extra push when we needed it most. As the majority of our waking hours are spent with our teachers, they have had a ■£? €)¥b great deal of influence on our lives. In fact, they have probably influenced our lives more than any other adult with whom we come in contact through our growing years. They have aided in molding our character through under- standing and exemplifying high stand- ards of moral character. Through the course of high school life, each student has received counsel and aid from one or more of his teachers. Al- though some members of the faculty have gone, they will be remembered by those who respected and admired them. The Class of ’73 dedicates this yearbook to the faculty and administration. We say thanks for a thousand and one things you never knew you did! Recognition—Mrs. Cook The person who has worked the longest for this school is Mrs. Cook. She has been secretary at Man High School for seventeen years. Mrs. Cook also gradu- ated from Man High School in 1938. She has dedicated her life to her work at this school. Mrs. Cook resides at Man with her husband, Forrest, and two chil- dren, Judy and David. Her comment on the school was, “It’s the best school that I have ever attended or worked for.” Her comment on the student body was, “As a whole, they are good all-around students.” 10 Class Officers Seniors-Standing left to right Donnetta Blevins, Sec.
