WHAT IS YOUTH? Youth is not merely a time in one’s life; it is a phase on a particular state of individualism in close relationship with the adequate functioning of an alert mind. A person grows old when he deserts his attitudes, looses his interests, abandons his competi- tive spirit, and forsades his goals and challenges in the game of life. Nobody grows old by just living a number of years. Many of our young people are old at a very early age because they bow their heads when the spirit of life is lessened or lost. Youth is as young as its faith, as old as its fear, as young as its hope, and as old as its despair.
