The Yearbook Staff and Senior Class of Man High School wishes to dedicate the 1970 Man Hi Echo to Mrs. Dorothy Bailey. Mrs. Bailey, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Morefield, was born at Bristol, Virginia. She graduated from Logan High School and attended Marshall College where she graduated with majors in English, Social Studies, Biological Science, and Library Science. She teaches English and English Composition. She has also taught World History and Biology. She resides at Amherstdale with her husband, Charles B. Youth is not merely a time in one’s life; it is a phase on a particular state of individualism in close relationship with the adequate functioning of an alert mind. A person grows old when he deserts his attitudes, looses his interests, abandons his competi- tive spirit, and forsades his goals and challenges in the game of life. Nobody grows old by just living a number of years. Many of our young people are old at a very early age because they bow their heads when the spirit of life is lessened or lost. Youth is as young as its faith, as old as its fear, as young as its hope, and as old as its despair. He received his college degree at East Tennessee State University and carried on with his Masters Degree at Peabody College. Beginning his teaching Mr. Kerley was band director at Matewan High School, Man High for nine years and Logan High School for a short length of time before becoming our principal. IN JHEBWHtlAHI Mrs. Ida Dice was secretary at Man High School until her death on July 5,1969. She was a member of the Bruce McDonald Me- morial Methodist Church. She resided with her husband, Robert, son Steve, and daughter Sharon. Terry Gentry was a 1967 graduate of Man High School. While in school he was an outstanding athlete in basketball.
